The Rev. Patrick L. Daymond was installed as the third pastor of the Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church on August 5, 2007. Rev. Daymond was born the third child of Mr. Tommy and Mrs. Josephine Daymond, Sr. in Winter Haven, FL. It was there that he was reared and received his elementary and secondary education, graduating valedictorian of Lake Region Sr. High School.
Rev. Daymond then matriculated into two top tier institutions of higher learning with Presbyterian roots. He holds a BA in Political Science from Davidson College in Davidson, NC, where he served as President of the Black Students Coalition and was awarded the Davidson Scholars Scholarship Award. He later received his Master of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ, where he concentrated on Biblical Studies and Homiletics. While in seminary, Rev. Daymond was elected to the office of Vice-President of the Association of Black Seminarians. He also garnered a number of other distinctions including being selected as one of the outstanding preachers of his graduating class and was the recipient of the Edler Garnett Hawkins Memorial Award for Scholastic Achievement.
Prior to arriving at Sixth Grace, Rev. Daymond served in two of the flagship churches of the PC(USA). During his time at Princeton, he served as an intern on the pastoral staff at Elmwood Presbyterian Church in East Orange, NJ where he focused on youth and young adult ministry, evangelism and pastoral care. He moved to Chicago to serve as a Pastoral Resident at Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago in 2005 where he was active in various areas of ministry, specifically community outreach and mission.
Now serving at Sixth Grace Presbyterian Church, Rev. Daymond seeks to lift up and empower all of humanity through preaching and teaching the life changing Word of God and living out the convincing and compelling gospel of Jesus Christ. Since his arrival at Sixth Grace, the church has committed itself to a renewed commitment in ministry and mission as the membership continues to grow numerically and spiritually. Rev. Daymond serves on several boards including the Board of Associated Urban Ministries-Transforming Communities, the Board of Directors for Southsiders Organized for Unity and Liberation (SOUL), and the Board of Trustees for McCormick Theological Seminary. Rev. Daymond is also as an adjunct Professor at McCormick Theological Seminary. Rev. Daymond is married to Mrs. Antonia Michelle Daymond, a native of Jacksonville, FL and a graduate student at The University of Chicago.
